Glen's Story
Glen (not his real name) grew up in a strict religious home but knew nothing about having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Glen's father was an alcoholic and physically abusive. Anger, rage and harsh criticism filled the home.
At his marriage to a Christian woman, Glen asked Christ into his life and tried to do all the right things. But, he was stuck in behaviors that caused him shame and guilt. He was verbally and emotionally abusive to his wife and children--an impatient, angry man--just like his father--until about two months ago when Glen heard about healing prayer. He decided to seek healing--not for his wife--not for others that wanted to change him--but because he saw hope to change and to have the relationship with God he desired.
Glen has met several times with a ChangePoint prayer team and at each appointment there have been significant shifts in his thinking. As lies he has believed about himself and God are exchanged for Scriptural truth, he has experienced changes in his behaviors.
Last night as Glen asked God to break the power of his father's negative influences on his life, the Lord's presence filled the room. He moved into confession of his own transgressions and as the team supported him in prayer, he shared that he was seeing a picture of his personal sins being nailed one by one to the cross. Glen knew deep inside for the first time-he is truly forgiven.
We will have several more appointments with Glen as we complete the prayer process. God's light will shine down on all areas of his life. Through prayer and speaking the truth of God's word, Glen will gain greater freedom to choose God's way. Jesus Christ will place his healing balm past wounds. Most of all, Glen will have discovered that Jesus is real and will be able to experience greater intimacy and joy in his relationship with God.
